Term Definition
Instantaneous speed The speed of an object at one instant of time.
Average speed Equals the total distance traveled divided by the total time time taken to travel the distance.
Mass Amount of matter in an object.
Inertia Tendency of an object to resist a change in it's motion.
Law of conservation of momentum States that the total momentum of objects that collide with each other is the same before and after the collision.
Center of mass Point in a object that moves as if all of the mass were concentrated at that point.
Weight Gravitational force between an object and Earth.
Force A push or a pull.
Net force Combination of all forces acting on an object.
Displacement Distance is how far you have walked. Displacement is the direction and difference in position between your starting and ending points.
